Today, the Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Finland to Armenia Arja Makkonen.
During the meeting, the state of human rights protection in Armenia, detention conditions in penitentiary institutions, issues related to the rights of women, children and persons with disabilities were discussed. The Human Rights Defender’s activity with regard to the protection of rights of participants of peaceful demonstrations during the events of April-May was also discussed.
The parties discussed the results of the monitoring of the availability of water and sanitary conditions in pre-schools, secondary schools, as well as child care institutions, conducted by the Office of the Human Rights Defender with the support of Finland.
The Ambassador Arja Makkonen has expressed her gratitude for effective cooperation and readiness to expand it.
