The Human Rights Defender published an ad hoc report both in Armenian and in English regarding the conformity of RA labor legislation to the European Union Human Rights.
A comparative analysis of RA labour legislation and EU human rights standards can prove useful in the process of bringing RA labor legislation more closely into line with EU human rights standards.
The state's obligations to uphold labor rights gain further importance when it comes to the protection of human rights in employment relationships. These obligations at the same time form a part of international commitments undertaken by the state under treaties.
Within the framework of the report the following were carried out:
a review of the scope and nature of commitments related to upholding and promoting labor rights envisioned by the EU-RA Agreement;
a review of the current labor legislation and legal initiatives envisaging amendments thereto;
an analysis of RA labor legislation in the light of the standards existing in the labour law of the European Union, identifying differences between them, and causes of existing contradictions;
an analysis of reports prepared by international and domestic human rights organizations related to labor legislation;
development of recommendations on the steps necessary for bringing RA labor legislation into conformity with the requirements laid down in the Agreement.
Labor rights include a wide range of issues and it was necessary to make a targeted selection of issues in this analysis in order to address them in detail and depth, and to refrain from an abstract and generalized narrative.
Relevant assessments, conclusions and recommendations are provided for the resolution of each issue to bring labor regulations into conformity with EU standards at the legislative level.
The ad hoc report published by Friedrich Ebert Foundation will be sent to the relevant state bodies.
