On January 24, a trilateral meeting of the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Tigran Sargsyan, the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia Arman Tatoyan and Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova took place in Moscow.
The meeting was important, especially from the point of the solution of issues that our compatriots, traveling to Russia for work or temporarily living there, are concerned with.
They address complaints to the Human Rights Defender of Armenia and to the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation concerning their labor and social rights, as well as their rights to health, pension, education etc.
It refers to cases when, for instance, the period worked in Russia and in Armenia is not counted in a single working experience, or issues arise concerning the use of medical services and related social packages.
There are also complaints related to labor rights, decision on eviction from the country, education of children in secondary schools and pre-schools, when applicants traveled to Russia with their families, etc.
The issues related to protection of the rights of Russians living in Armenia were also discussed.
As a result of an effective cooperation between the Human Rights Defender of Armenia and the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, in all similar cases, the issue is transferred to the Russian colleagues, who, by the established practice take measures to ensure the realization of citizens' rights.
"I frequently discuss issues raised by our citizens with my Russian counterpart, but because of differences of legal systems, we, ombudsmen, are often unable to solve separate issues of citizens," said the RA Human Rights Defender.
One of the key priorities of the Eurasian Economic Commission is ensuring of human rights and freedoms, harmonization of relevant legislation and elimination of contradictions.
For that purpose, issues that citizens of the two countries are facing in Armenia and Russia, were discussed during the trilateral meeting in Moscow.
Tigran Sargsyan expressed his gratitude to Arman Tatoyan and Tatiana Mosalkova, as well as full readiness to support the activities of the ombudsmen of the two countries in creating equal working conditions for the workers.
