The number of complaints addressed to the Defender that received positive solution increased fourfold

As of December 15, 2018, the efficiency of the work of the Office of the Human Rights Defender with regard to individual cases has increased more than fourfold as compared with the previous three years. This is based only on the results of the investigation of the complaints that concern the Defender’s mandate, as well as the work with regard to systemic issues. 

 

Particularly, the comparative picture of the individual cases concerning the Defender’s mandate in the last 4 years shows that in 2015, the number of complaints that have been resolved positively is 498, in 2016 - 444, in 2017 this figure has doubled to 845, and as of December 15, 2018 it is 1339.

 

Based on the Defender’s reports and recommendation the packages of legislative drafts envisaging fundamental changes have been developed, the Defender’s Office continues submitting applications and amicus briefs to the Constitutional Court, the cooperation with civil society organizations has been strengthened, and international cooperation with human rights protection organizations is developing significantly.
