The rapid response and monitoring visits of the Defender’s Office has increased twofold

The visits of rapid response and to places of deprivation of liberty paid by the Human Rights Defender's Office have increased more than twice as compared to the previous four years.

In particular, 458 visits were paid in 2014, 586 visits in 2015, 415 visits in 2016, 614 visits in 2017, and 1134 visits in 2018.

Since 2017, as a result of the amendments to the Law on Human Rights Defender, the number of visits paid to children's care and protection institutions have also increased. In particular, 19 visits were paid in 2017 and 215 visits in 2018.

The monitoring visits are carried out based on the special principles adopted in international practice. Both individual and systemic issues were recorded within the visits. The recorded issues are being discussed after each visit, both with heads of the institutions and the superior bodies, and concrete recommendations for the solution of problems are presented.
