The obstruction of factor.am chief journalist, Arevik Sahakyan's professional activities on the crossroads of Yerevan's Tumanyan-Mashtots streets is strictly unacceptable.
According to Arevik Sahakyan, some people tried to beat her, push her, tear her journalistic certificate and damage her equipment on the night of April 17. According to the journalist, police officers who were found in the area did not try to stop or to prevent the assault on her.
It is important that during massive events like this, journalists be able to report the events normally, without any interferences. Therefore, any incident of obstruction to the professional work of a journalist should be immediately averted, and should be subject to strict sanctions.
The information on the case was summarized and sent to the criminal prosecution body by the Defender's Office.
