On 13 February 2017, the representatives, of the Department for Prevention of Torture and Ill-Treatment of the Human Rights Defender’s Office, including the doctor, paid another unannounced visit to Artur Sargsyan, who is on hunger strike and is currently being held in Prisoner Hospital Penitentiary Institution.
A private conversation with A. Sargsyan took place, as well as detention conditions and medical documents were examined.
During the examination of the history of A. Sargsyan’s illness, it was revealed that from 9 to 13 February, 2017 there are notes about doctor’s visits and Sargsyan’s refusal to receive medical treatment.
The Human Rights Defender has started a discussion procedure upon his own initiative to ensure A. Sargsyan’s right to health care.
