The Human Rights Defender’s Institution became full member of the European Network of Ombudspersons for Children

Full membership of the Human Rights Defender’s Institution to the European Network of Ombudspersons for Children will provide new opportunities for the exchange of experience and necessary information.

The establishment of the Unit for Children’s Rights Protection and results recorded during the performance of its activities lead to the full membership to the Network. Moreover, the adoption of the Constitutional Law “On the Human Rights Defender” was contributory as well, according to which the Defender became an independent monitoring body of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

It is necessary to note, that since 2009 the Defender’s Institution is associate member to the organization, and full membership will provide an opportunity to participate in the activities of the organizations’ governing bodies. The United Nations Children's Fund Office in Armenia provided an essential support for becoming a member to the Network.
