In the framework of examining a complaint addressed to the Defender, a detained person underwent an eye surgery

A detained person filed an application to the RA Human Rights Defender stating that he had a vision problem. He received instructions for surgery before his imprisonment, even though the ophthalmologist who visited him at the detention center did not prescribe examination or treatment for him.

In the framework of the discussion of the complaint at the Defender’s Office, the person was examined in an ophthalmic clinic, received diagnosis and instructions for lens removal and implantation of an artificial lens.

As a result, the detained person underwent a surgery at the ophthalmic clinic with medical assistance and service free of charge or under privileged conditions, in the manner guaranteed by the state.
