From October 16 to 28, Deputy-President and Secretary General of National Authority for the Prevention of Torture of the Republic of Tunisia visited Armenia in order to get familiarised with the torture prevention experience of the Armenian Human Rights Defender’s Office in the prevention of torture and to develop the existing preventive mechanism in their country.
Nabiha Kefi Ep Badri and Dhiaeddine Mourou will participate in the ongoing activities of the Defender’s Office, examine the new principles of the national preventive mechanism, as well as the new working directions introduced on the basis of those principles.
The representatives of Tunisia along with the representatives of the Defender’s Office will make monitoring visits to detention centres and psychiatric institutions.
The experience of RA Human Rights Defender's Office as a National Preventive Mechanism was introduced to other countries the framework of the project implemented by the Council of Europe. For that purpose, representatives of the National Centre for Human Rights of the Kingdom of Morocco had a visit to Yerevan in July.
A visit is also expected from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
