Obstruction of a journalist’s activities is impermissible. Ombudsman

RA Human Rights Defender finds impermissible the obstruction of armday.am news website journalist Paylak Fahradyan’s journalistic activities. Any perpetrator of such an act shall be held responsible.

 

According to the information published by the journalist, the director of medical center of Shatin community in Vayots Dzor Province, Zoya Martirosyan, did not like the journalist’s questions, and Zoya Martirosyan, her sister and son-in-law, who is the head of Qaraglukh community in Vayots Dzor Province, tried to take his camera and locked him in a room requesting to delete the camera’s content. The journalist filed a crime report to the Police.

 

Based on the information about obstructing the journalist’s activities, the Human Rights Defender’s Office initiated a discussion procedure upon its initiative in order to receive information from law-enforcement bodies about the measures taken by them and the outcomes.
