The Commissioner of Kazakhstan finds impermissible giving any inter-ethnic coloring to the incident in Karaganda: Arman Tatoyan discussed the issue with his Kazakh counterpart

The Human Rights Defender of Armenia Arman Tatoyan had a telephone conversation with the Human Rights Commissioner of Kazakhstan Askar Shakirov with regard to the situation in Karaganda city of Kazakhstan.

 

The Human Rights Commissioner of Kazakhstan noted that he finds impermissible giving any inter-ethnic coloring or nature to the incident.

 

He assured that there cannot be any discrimination against Armenians based on their nationality.

 

Askar Shakirov mentioned that this issue is under his direct attention.

 

After a telephone conversation with the Defender, he once again discussed this issue with law enforcement bodies and informed Arman Tatoyan that the case is only of interpersonal and criminal nature, referring to both new and previous statements made by the law enforcement bodies.

 

At the request of Arman Tatoyan, Askar Shakirov expressed his full readiness to investigate any complaint or application that Armenians may have within his mandate.

 

The Human Rights Defender of Armenia attaches great importance to the high level of cooperation with his Kazakh counterpart, his prompt response and will remain in contact with him regarding the situation that concerns our compatriots in Kazakhstan.

 

The Defender is also in contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and the Embassy of Armenia to Kazakhstan and values their efforts regarding the situation.
