On 17 March, His Holiness Garegin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians met Dr. Arman Tatoyan, the Human Rights Defender of Armenia.
During the meeting, His Holiness stressed the importance of the Ombudsman's mission, appreciating the work that is undertaken for finding fair resolutions to problems occurring in different areas of social life. In this regard, His Holiness emphasized the activities of Armenian clergy for the protection of human rights in various sectors of social life, particularly in the RA Armed Forces, hospitals, and penitentiary institutions.
In his turn, speaking on the preservation of national values and traditions, as well as the Armenian Apostolic Church's mission in the protection of human rights, Dr. Tatoyan highlighted the importance of cooperation between the latter and the Human Rights Defender’s Office.
During the meeting, the issues related to the protection of human rights in Armenia and the activities carried out towards overcoming them were discussed. At the end of the meeting, His Holiness wished the Ombudsman God's support in his difficult mission.
His Eminence Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan, the Director of the External Relations and Protocol Division of the Mother See, also attended the meeting.
