From 17 to 29 July the representatives of the National Center for Human Rights of the Kingdom of Morocco will be in Armenia to study the experience of the Human Rights Defender’s Office in prevention of torture. The aim is also to develop the National Preventive Mechanism in Morocco.
Hannan el Hamdi and Hakku Mohammad will participate in the work process at the Human Rights Defender’s Office, will study the new principles of the National Preventive Mechanism’s implementation, as well as the new directions of work based on those principles.
The representatives from Morocco will conduct monitoring visits to arrested and detained persons, places of deprivation of liberty, psychiatric institutions etc. They will also participate in an international workshop dedicated to unique features of monitoring in psychiatric institutions.
It is worth mentioning that within the scope of the Council of Europe’s project, the experience of the Human Rights Defender’s Office as National Preventive Mechanism has been proposed to other countries aimed at establishing such an institution there.
Visits are organized also from Tunis and other countries.
