The RA Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan is with an official visit in Lithuania, where he takes part in the 20th high-level conference of European Ombudspersons. The conference is dedicated to children's rights protection, juvenile justice, as well as to ensuring children's right to education.
The experience of establishment of Department for protection of children's rights in the Armenian Human Rights Defender's Office was presented during the conference. This institutional solution will enable Armenia to present an application for becoming a full member of the European Network of Ombudspersons for Children. This issue has already been discussed with the secretariat of the organization.
In the process of the visit, individual meetings with the Lithuanian Parliamentary Ombudsman took place, during which the issues related to development of cooperation between the institutions of the two countries and implementation of joint projects were discussed. Within the exchange of experience, the steps taken in Armenia to tackle the problems in the field of human rights protection were presented.
Within the framework of the conference meetings are scheduled with Ombudspersons of Latvia, Cyprus, Moldova and other countries. Among other issues, the prospects of development of bilateral cooperation with each of them will be discussed.
