A Working Group is established under the order of the Human Rights Defender to ensure effective protection of electoral rights during the parliamentary election and pre-election period within the legal capacity of the Defender. The Group includes representatives from the Human Rights Defender’s head and regional offices.
The Working Group is directly responsible for monitoring alleged violations of electoral rights reported by media, as well as ensuring proper examination of oral and written complaints. The Group is also responsible for receiving citizens and provision of legal advice, as well as rapid reaction visits.
During the consideration of complaints and media publications, issues related to journalist rights and observers will be under special attention.
Close cooperation with civil society organizations, media, as well as local and international organizations carrying out electoral observation missions are priorities of the Group.
The Working Group is also assigned to maintain close communication with competent state authorities during the electoral processes.
As always, during the whole electoral process the Human Rights Defender’s Office will conduct its activities based on the principles of impartiality, publicity and transparency and other principles prescribed by the RA Constitution.
