Arman Tatoyan participated in annual meeting and conference of Eurasian Ombudsman Alliance

On November 8-9, the Human Rights Defender of Armenia participated in international conference on “Human rights protection in Eurasia: exchange of best practices of ombudsmen” in Moscow. 

 

The conference was organized by the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation and was dedicated to the 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 25th Anniversary of the Constitution of the Russian Federation. In his speech Arman Tatoyan highlighted the high level of cooperation with the Commissioner of RF and the joint work with her with regard to the protection of rights of RA citizens living in Russia.

 

The conference was attended by heads of National Human Rights Institutions of Russia, Iran, Greece, Serbia, Albania and other countries, as well as international and diplomatic bodies, scientific institutions and civil society organizations.

 

During the conference, Arman Tatoyan presented the new legislative regulations on Human Rights Defender of Armenia and the experience of their implementation. Participants of the event emphasized the importance of the Defender’s work during the events of April-May in Armenia, the practice of presenting special opinions to RA Constitutional Court and contributing to decision making, being a third party in the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) and contributing to execution of judgments, etc.

 

The next day of the conference, the annual meeting of Eurasian Ombudsman Alliance was held, during which important issues related to future activities of the Alliance were discussed.
