In its today issue the Euro Ombudsman journal has referred to the Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan’s statements condemning the criminal actions committed by the Azerbaijan against the civilian settlements and population of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh. Emphasizing that at the moment Human Rights Defender is on a work visit to Artsakh, the journal notes that Arman Tatoyan is in constant contact with international organizations. Yesterday the Human Rights Defender brought into international organizations’ attention the results of examination regarding the unacceptable offensive operations against civilian settlements and population who are entitled to special protection under International Humanitarian Law.
“Mass atrocities committed by the Azerbaijani side against the rights and life of civilian population and attaining the highest level of cruelty are unacceptable and intolerable”; quoting from the Ombudsman’s statement, European Ombudsman Institute emphasizes that the Azerbaijani authorities violate the fundamental requirements of International Humanitarian Law by their unlawful policy.
European Ombudsman Institute closely cooperates with international human rights organizations, and the periodical is distributed in a number of countries, including Post- Soviet republics.
