Arman Tatoyan, the Human Rights Defender has attended the event in connection with the 20th anniversary of the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia in Tbilisi.
The Defender made a statement and presented to the high ranking participants the Armenian experience in establishment of human rights defender’s institution, legislative developments, as well as talked about challenges on the path of human rights protection.
Specifically, new provisions of the Constitutional Law on Human Rights Defender addressing the increase of the level of Defender’s institutional impact have been presented.
During his speech Arman Tatoyan stressed the importance of human rights protection in conflict and post-conflict regions.
At the end, while talking about the enhanced cooperation between the Defenders’ staffs of Armenia and Georgia, Arman Tatoyan highlighted the significance of the permanent cooperation in the field of human rights protection in the region.
Within the event the Defender had meetings with the Secretary General of the International Ombudsman Institute Günther Kräuter and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Netherlands H.E. Johannes Douma.
