Discussions on the empowerment of women: training in Noyemberyan

On November 20, a working meeting took place between representatives of the Office of the Human Rights Defender and local civil society organisations on the exercise of women's economic rights.

The event – supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the American Bar Association in Armenia within the framework of “Promoting Human Rights Protection in Armenia for All” project – aims to promote the economic capacity of women in regions, as well as promoting opportunities for them to engage in economic activity and overcoming stereotypes about women's role in society by raising awareness on women's rights.

During the discussions various ways of the Human Rights Defender's assistance in women's employment, women's capacity building and economic empowerment were discussed.

During the same meeting a training aimed to enhance women’s capacity in initiating business enterprise has been conducted. The expert involved in the training provided legal regulations on state registration of legal persons, taxation procedures, pricing methods and other related issues.

Such discussions are to be continuous, allowing women living in the provinces to develop their economic capabilities and sell their own products.
