Today, the Human Rights Defender received a delegation from the OSCE ODIHR led by the Head of the Democratization Department.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues concerning the judicial reforms in the Republic of Armenia, and the fight against corruption in the judicial system.
Arman Tatoyan emphasized his readiness to support the Government and the Parliament in the fight against corruption and the issues of judicial reforms within his capacity, especially when there are problems requiring urgent solutions.
The Defender highlighted the role of civil society in all these processes and expressed his readiness to promote their participation.
The delegation led by the head of the OSCE ODIHR Democratization Department emphasized the importance of the Human Rights Defender’s role in preventing and combating corruption.
At the end of the meeting agreements were reached, including that at the Defender’s request, the OSCE ODIHR will provide expert opinions on draft legal acts prepared by the Defender or other bodies.
Issues related to the provision of legal opinion on legislative initiatives from the human rights perspectives and promotion of their public discussion were also discussed.
