The representatives of the Human Rights Defender and the Chamber of Advocates made a joint visit to the village of Baghanis in order to provide legal aid

On October 17, the representatives of the Office of the Human Rights Defender and the Chamber of Advocates made a joint visit to the village of Baghanis in Tavush province to provide the villagers with legal aid.

This agreement on cooperation was reached during the Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan’s recent regional visit, during which the residents raised a number of personal and systemic issues.

During the consultation, it was revealed that the main issue was related to the acquisition of the right to ownership of real estate (lands) factually owned by the villagers.  Particularly, there are issues about the procedure for transferring property through inheritance and elimination of inaccuracies in records which serve as a basis for the registration of real estate rights.

Experts consulted some of the villagers on the spot, and directed others to apply to the community public defenders with specific cases in order to receive support in filing lawsuits in court.

According to the agreement between the Human Rights Defender and the Chairman of the Chamber of Advocates, the practice of providing the citizens with joint legal aid to will be of a continuous nature.
