On June 28, a working meeting was held between the representatives of the Defender’s Office and state bodies, to discuss the issues concerning the rights protection of women and person with disabilities recoded in the 2017 Annual report of the Human Rights Defender.
Head of Division for Protection of Civil, Socio-Economic and Cultural Rights at RA Human Rights Defender’s Office Armen Mashinyan and Armenia Country Director of the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative Hasmik Hakobyan made opening speeches.
During the discussion organized in the framework of “Promoting Human Rights Protection in Armenia for All” project, financed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the stereotypes in the society, shortcomings of the legislative regulations, as well as overcoming obstacles for persons with disabilities resulting from environmental inconveniences were particularly highlighted.
In their turn, the representatives of the state bodies presented the existing problems in the field agreeing to work jointly for their solution.
