Today, the Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan met the members of the PACE monitoring commission visiting Armenia aimed at of conducting fact-finding activities.
During the meeting, the directions and principles of the Human Rights Defender’s work, the activities conducted in the field of torture prevention, protection of rights of women and children, persons with mental health issues and with disabilities, as well as the recorded problems and the steps aimed at solving them were discussed.
During the meeting, the activities of the Human Rights Defender’s Office with regard to the protection of rights of participants of peaceful demonstrations, round-the-clock work in police divisions during the events of April-May, exclusion of intolerance and hate speech were discussed as well.
The PACE Co-Rapporteurs on Armenia highly valued the work of the Human Rights Defender and expressed readiness to continue the effective cooperation.
Arman Tatoyan in his turn expressed gratitude for appreciating the Human Rights Defender’s work, expressed readiness to continue active cooperation in strengthening human rights and democratic institutions.
PACE Co-Rapporteurs on Armenia will summarize the results of the fact-finding activities about the implementation of obligations and commitments of Armenia in a separate report.
