Discussions between the representatives of the Human Rights Defender’s office and local civil society organisations on combating violence against women

The Staff of the Human Rights Defender has initiated to convene local self-government body, as well as civil society representatives in Noyemberyan to discuss issues in fighting violence against women in Armenia.

 

During the event – supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the American Bar Association in Armenia within the framework of “Promoting Human Rights Protection in Armenia for All” project – the issues on the rights of woman raised in the Annual Report of the Human Rights Defender has been discussed. Further, the impact of violence on women, children and other special groups as well as the principles of the protection of the victims of domestic violence, types of protective measures, reconciliation were discussed among other issues.

 

During the meeting, a discussion has been held on challenging issues that local women face. An agreement was reached to work together aimed at solving the issues in the named field.
