From October 1-5, for the purpose of exchanging experience 4 representatives of the Human Rights Defender's Office were in Ljubljana, at the Slovenian Ombudsman Office.
Within the framework of the visit, the mandates of the two institutions, the spheres of activities, as well as the issues of human rights protection and the prevention of torture and ill-treatment in the places of deprivation of liberty were discussed. Meetings were also held with the representatives of the state competent authorities (Prison Administration, Police, Ministry of Health, etc.).
In the framework of the NPM activity joint monitoring visits have been conducted to a penitentiary institution, as well as a psychiatric establishment.
The high level of cooperation between the institutions of the two countries was highlighted, the parties agreed to further expand the bilateral cooperation.
