Today, the Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan met graduates of PR school led by the President of Armenian PR Association Ms. Astghik Avetisyan, and they had a discussion on the role of Defender's institution and on professional achievements.
"When I was elected the Human Rights Defender, I had two options: either to indulge in populism, ensuring positive reputation among the people in society, but destroy the reputation of the institution in a long-term perspective, or to choose the hard road, the professional work. Certainly, I chose the second option, and thanks to this work, today we enjoy a high international reputation, we are actively engaged in the work of legislation improvement, and year by year we increase results the number of cases with positive solutions", told Arman Tatoyan, emphasizing that PR is important, but it should not put the professional work to the second plan.
He highlighted that the Human Rights Defender's or the Ombudsman's mission requires to work closely with all state bodies, civil society organizations and international partners.
"Confidentiality of information provided by an applicant, as well as objectivity and independence of the work are fundamental values for us. Intolerance towards the violation of human rights, consistency in the elimination of that violations, as well as the contribution to its solution are the guarantees of the Human Rights Defender's activity," specified Arman Tatoyan.
The graduates of the PR school addressed various questions of human rights protection to the Defender, and at the end of the meeting, Arman Tatoyan together with Astghik Avetisyan presented graduation certificates to the graduates of the school and wished them professional success in Public Relations work.
