On September 26, a session of the Steering Committee on “Support to the Human Rights Protection in Armenia” EU Budget Support Project was held which was co-chaired by the Human Rights Defender together with the Minister of Justice and the Head of EU Delegation in Armenia. Representatives of the Defender's Office, as well as representatives of a number of state, international and non-governmental organizations took part in the session.
“The EU support in the field of human rights is of great importance and refers to such key directions that will have a positive impact on the rights of children in our country, the rights of persons with disabilities, torture prevention and a number of other fields. This project is such a fundamental initiative,” mentioned Arman Tatoyan in his speech.
During the session, the parties touched upon the implementation of activities within the "Support to Human Rights Protection in Armenia" financial agreement signed between Armenia and the European Union. In particular, issues related to the prevention of torture, combating domestic violence, the rights of children and the implementation of a number of other stipulations were discussed.
