The Human Rights Defender and the Supreme Judicial Council will cooperate in increasing the effectiveness of judicial practice

Today, on 11 May, the Human Right Defender Arman Tatoyan met the Chairperson of the Supreme Judicial Council Gagik Harutyunyan.

 

During the meeting, issues of bilateral cooperation within the framework of improving the judicial practice were discussed, as well as the necessity of the collaboration of the two constitutional institutions in examining and assessing the judicial practice was highlighted. The mandate of the Human Rights Defender to present recommendations on the improvement of the judicial practice was also underlined. Besides, the Chairperson of the Supreme Judicial Council noted, that it is envisaged to establish a subdivision dealing with analysis and monitoring of judicial practice in the Staff of the Council.

 

At the end of the meeting it was highlighted that the cooperation between the parties is aimed at increasing the effectiveness of judicial practice and strengthening confidence in the courts, which stems from the principle of guaranteeing the rule of law.
