On 11 February during the event that was co-organized by the Council of Europe and the Vanadzor Office of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly, the Deputy Head of the Rapid Reaction Group Martik Martirosyan had a speech for the local groups carrying out observation mission.
The training was organized in Sevan within the scope of the program entitled Long-Term Election Assistance for Stakeholders of Elections in Armenia which is realized due to the assistance of European Union and Council of Europe. Representatives of NGO’s with a right to observation mission attended the trainings.
The Human Rights Defender’s mandate in the sphere of election process, as well as the procedure of recording applications at the Human Rights Defender’s Office and its discussion procedure were presented to the participants. The procedure of submitting applications to the Defender were explained as well. It was also highlighted that during the election day, special working groups will be formed at the Human Rights Defender’s Office that will provide consultation to voters, conduct rapid visits and monitor information from public sources.
Questions regarding the rights of observers and cooperation between the observers and staff of the Human Rights Defender’s Office were discussed.
