Special clarifications on the protection of rights of apprehended persons at police divisions

All rapid reaction groups of the Human Rights Defender’s Office are in police divisions. They make full efforts to guarantee rights of apprehended persons.

They specifically explain that regardless of whether apprehensions occur within administrative or criminal proceedings, the apprehended persons shall enjoy the rights that are internationally stipulated and moreguaranteed following 2015 RA constitutional amendments.

These rights are, at least, the followings:

•  to be informed promptly in a language which the person understands of the reasons for apprehension  at the location of apprehension;

•  to remain silent;

•  to inform about location of apprehension to a person selected by him/her

•  to a lawyer;

•  to a medical examination, including examination by a doctor that his/her will choose on his/her own expences;

•  to notice about their rights.
