 “Human Rights and Domestic Violence”: a training for journalists was held in Berlin

From December 3 to 9, a study trip for journalists was organised to Berlin as a result of cooperation between the Human Rights Defender’s Office of Armenia and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany to Armenia.

 

Journalists working at TV channel, internet mass media, as well as representatives of the Public Relations Unit of the Human Rights Defender’s Office participated in the visit.

 

In the framework of the training “Human Rights and Domestic Violence” the journalists had meetings with representatives of state-financed organizations working towards prevention of violence in families, visited courts specialized in matters of domestic violence, met with heads of NGOs acting against domestic violence.

 

During the visit a reception was organized also at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany.

 

During the meetings the German experts stated that for the purpose of preventing violence, it is important to work in a proper manner both with the victim and the alleged perpetrator, as well as conduct coordinated cooperation with the respective institutions. Reference was made also to the children’s rights, and the importance of child’s right to live in a family was outlined.
