Considering that the issue relates to media activities, an investigation was initiated at the Human Rights Defender’s Office upon the Defender’s own initiative to evaluate the lawfulness of vacating the state-owned premises gratuitously allocated to the mass media that operates in Yerevan.
Information was published in the media that, according to a Yerevan Mayor's decree, the media outlets operating in 1/3 Buzand street in Yerevan received a notification on the ungrounded vacating of the premises gratuitously allocated to them.
The media outlets operating at 2 Arshakunyats Avenue and 28 Isahakyan Street also received similar notifications by the State Property Management Committee of the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments.
Taking into account the fact that ensuring the freedom of expression and the protection of journalists' activities are of vital importance for the Human Rights Defender, Arman Tatoyan requested clarifications from the Mayor of Yerevan and the Minister of Economic Development and Investments on the concrete questions regarding this issue.
