Today, the representatives of the Human Rights Defender's Office received the delegation led by the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, Mr. Harlem Desir, to discuss issues of freedom of expression in Armenia.
During the meeting the Human Rights Defender's activities in the field of guaranteeing the freedom of expression and media, in particular, conditioned by the recent events were discussed.
Mr. Harlem Desir highlighted the role of the Human Rights Defender’s Institution in guaranteeing freedom of expression and protecting rights of journalists.
The representatives of the Defender's Office mentioned that the Human Rights Defender attaches importance to the journalists’ unhindered professional work and their protection, as they have an important mission not only in promoting dissent, but also in maintaining an atmosphere of tolerance.
At the end of the meeting the parties expressed readiness to continue the cooperation.
