On 31 August 2018, the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia Arman Tatoyan received the UNHCR Regional Representatives for the South Caucasus Johannes van der Klaauw and the Representative in Armenia Anna Carin Öst.
The Defender congratulated Ms. Öst on her new appointment in Armenia and expressed his confidence that under her leadership, the ongoing fruitful cooperation between UNHCR and the Human Rights Defender’s Office will continue.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects of further collaboration, as well as the directions and the scope of cooperation in the field of protection of the rights of refugees and asylum-seekers in Armenia.
Highlighted the important role of the Human Rights Defender’s Office in Armenia, the UNHCR officials expressed their readiness for continuous and enhanced cooperation between the agencies.
