Today the Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan received Clément Voule, the UN Special Rapporteur on the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association.
Arman Tatoyan informed that in April of this year, from the day of initiating demonstrations in Yerevan, the Human Rights Defender’s Office had worked in a 24-hour regime.
Approximately 500 calls regarding the rights of participants of demonstrations were received in those days via hotline.
24-hour monitoring of media publications and social network was also carried out, and for the purpose of guaranteeing the rights of citizens, the representatives of the Defender’s Office conducted private interviews with approximately 1000 persons at Police units.
The Human Rights Defender stressed that the issue of guaranteeing human rights during peaceful demonstrations is always under his attention.
The UN Special Rapporteur on the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association highlighted the role of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia in guaranteeing the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association in the country.
