The Defender's representatives have examined the cars aimed at transferring persons deprived of liberty

The representatives of the Human Rights Defender visited the Accompanying Battalion of Police Yerevan Department and examined the conditions for the transportation of persons deprived of liberty.

 

Attention was paid to the cells of these cars, their surfaces, sanitary and hygienic conditions and furnishing, ventilation, heating, lighting as well as to safety conditions.

 

Some of the issues raised in the Annual report on the activity of the Human Rights Defender as National Preventive Mechanism during the year 2017 have been solved (for example, sanitary-hygienic condition). At the same time, there are still unsolved issues. In particular, it refers to the safety of person during the transportation, natural translucency of cars, their surfaces and heating.

 

The necessary steps prescribed by the law will be taken within the Human Rights Defender's mandate to facilitate the resolution of the issues.
