On May 12, the hotline of the Human Rights Defender’s Office received a call from the representative of “Elq” alliance Arayik Harutyunyan that there was a tension in Kurghinyan street, in the pre-election headquarter of the mayoral candidate and that the police and members of the alliance jostled one another because of documents stolen from the headquarter.

 

Later, advocate Nikolay Baghdasaryan raised the issue through the hotline that a representative of “Elq” alliance had participated in the examination of the scene as an observer, and that Nikol Pashinyan had made an agreement with the police to attach the documents to the case-file.

 

The staff of the Rapid Response Department of the Human Rights Defender’s Office went to the place of incident, received clarifications from responsible the police personnel. During the visit, representatives of “Elq” Alliance were not there.

 

The Human Rights Defender’s Office initiated discussion proceedings in respect of the matter.
